HOW IT WORKS

1 CHOOSE AN INSTRUCTOR

Choose a PhotoPhlo faculty member with whom you would like to work. If you already have someone in mind that’s great! If not, take some time to learn about our diverse faculty to find an instructor who covers the topics you would like to work on. Sign up on your chosen instructors faculty page.

2 PREPARE FOR CLASS

After signing up, your instructor will email you to schedule your class. You will also receive a brief questionnaire where you will be able to tell your instructor about your work and your goals for the session, as well as instructions on how to format and upload photos to your virtual studio.

GET STARTED!

At the time of your class you will meet your instructor through a Zoom video conference. Topics you and your instructor might cover include conceptual and aesthetic issues, technical training, project development, book design, or simply an open conversation about your work.

ABOUT Mentorships

PhotoPhlo’s mentorships are offered by application only and require a commitment of at least 10 sessions. You can begin the process by filling out the inquiry form below and indicating which of our teachers you would like to work with. Once we receive your request you will receive further instructions on how to apply.

The application will require you to provide short statements about your experience level, your goals and how frequently you would like to meet with your instructor. You will also be asked when you would like to begin your mentorship and to submit 10 of your photographs.

Your application will be reviewed by the faculty member you are hoping to work with, and you will receive a response in one to two weeks. Mentorships are offered at the discretion of the instructor. Once enrolled, you will correspond directly with the instructor to schedule your first session and learn more about how they would like you to prepare for your first class.

While mentorships are available to all levels of photographers, they are primarily meant for photographers seeking feedback on their photography aesthetically and conceptually. Mentorships are not meant for students wishing to focus solely on technical instruction.
